Oral Care

Oral care is more important than ever when wearing braces. Braces have tiny spaces where food particles and plaque get trapped. Insufficient cleaning whilst wearing braces can cause enamel staining around brackets or bands. If you follow the simple steps below your oral health can be kept at its best:

Brush carefully after every meal with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Rinse thoroughly and check your teeth in the mirror to make sure they're clean.

Take time to floss between braces and under wires with the help of a floss threader, this can be tricky but we will advise you of the best technique.

Visit your dentist every six months to keep your gums and teeth healthy.

During your treatment we will monitor your oral health and advise you of areas that you may be missing. If you have any questions about your oral health during your treatment we ask that you contact our surgery immediately.
